About The Project

A group of young men got together to do something. They realised that to get young men to talk, they need someone to listen. The Lighthouse is a tattoo, real or temporary. It marks you as a safe place for a mate to talk – that you will be there to listen and look out for him.

The Young Men's Project (YMP) aims to reduce male youth suicide by asking young men to come up with ideas, programs or events to make it easier for their peer group to seek help, and shift the way young men think about mental health issues.

Don’t interrupt or judge. If you’re mate says he’s doing it tough, then he is, even if others don’t see it. You don’t have to know what the ‘right’ thing to say is. Just listening is enough.
